Rio Bravo Sessions takes its name from the studio in Xirivella, Spain where this album was recorded. We were searching for an unpolished sound like some of the classic folk rock albums of the 1970s. The songs I brought from California were arranged during three practice sessions and three days of recording. With Xema Fuertes as our music director, everything was up for interpretation and captured in very few takes. Not for the feint of heart! The rhythm section was tracked in Rio Bravo’s amazing live room with its kitsch decor and instruments hanging everywhere and rats’ nests of cables and nearly absent reverb. In November 2024 the studio miraculously escaped the flood waters that devastated Valencia province and reached within a centimeter of entrance. The album was expertly mixed Brad Jones Nashville.
